How to Wear Gomed (Hessonite)
Finger, day, panchamrit vidhi, and the Rahu mantra for wearing Gomed (Hessonite).
Gomed (Hessonite) is worn to balance Rahu. It can settle sudden ups and downs, but only if Rahu is favourable in the kundli.

How to wear it
- 1
Confirm Gomed suits your kundli. If unsure, do not wear it.
- 2
Trial first: keep the loose stone in a white cloth in your pocket for 3 days. Stop if sleep, mood, or luck turns sharply worse.
- 3
Choose a natural honey coloured hessonite. Typical weight is 5 to 8 ratti, or as advised.
- 4
Set it in silver or panchdhatu with an open back so it touches the skin.
- 5
Purify it in panchamrit, then rinse and dry.
- 6
Wear it on Saturday, on the middle finger (madhyama) of the working hand.
- 7
Chant the mantra 108 times as you wear it.
Panchamrit vidhi
Panchamrit is a mix of five sacred items used to purify the stone before first wear.
Doodh
Cow milk
Dahi
Curd
Shahad
Honey
Ghee
Clarified butter
Shakkar or Gud
Sugar or jaggery
- 1.Mix equal parts of doodh, dahi, shahad, ghee, and shakkar (or gud) in a clean bowl.
- 2.Wash the gemstone in this panchamrit.
- 3.Rinse with Ganga jal or clean water.
- 4.Wipe dry with a clean white cloth.
- 5.Offer it once to the deity, then wear it while chanting the mantra.
Mantra to chant
ॐ भ्रां भ्रीं भ्रौं सः राहवे नमः
Om Bhram Bhreem Bhroum Sah Rahave Namah
Count: 108 times
When: While wearing, then on Saturday if you wish.
Keep in mind
- Gomed is sensitive, like Neelam. A trial is worth doing.
- A cinnamon or honey colour with few inclusions is preferred.
- Do not share or borrow someone else’s Gomed.
